PAT testing
Whether you are running a business, an office manager or a landlord, it is a legal requirement that any electrical equipment provided for your employees or supplied to your tenants is safe and fault free.
The PAT test has become common place within the commercial market as a way to evidence this. Each piece will be tested and labelled as having being tested.
Depending on the equipment used, tests are required either every 12 or 24 months.
We would never recommend anyone tests their own equipment and that everyone uses a third party to ensure records are correct and up to date.

EIC reports
Private landlords are required by law to ensure that the rented property meets specific standards at the start of the tenancy and until it ends. The landlord must be able to provide a copy of the report, if requested, to tenants or the local authority for inspection.
Businesses have to ensure the safety of their employees and members of the public, and be able to evidence that risks have been assessed.
The EIC has become the industry standard for this, and much like the PAT test, it is not recommended that individuals complete this test themselves.
